この秋に向け取り組んだ、新作を発表いたします。

こちらは銅を用い製作した菓子皿「緋銅干菓子盆『竜田川』」。直径八寸（約24センチ）、漆と金箔を用いて絵柄を描いています。

写真では巧く表現できませんが、非常に鮮やかな朱色を発色しています。これは、研ぎあげられた銅版を特殊な薬液に浸し何時間もかけて煮ます。素地が薬液と反応し、徐々に深い朱に発色してまいります。この「朱」が金箔の持つ淡い光沢とうまく溶け合い、美しい秋の景色を映します。

New work from this fall: Tatsuta River” Higashi Tray

I will present 2 new works which were designed for this fall.

This is a plate for Japanese sweets made in copper, called “Red Copper Higashi Plate ‘Tatsuta River’.”
The diameter is about 24cm, and the image on the tray is represented by lacquer and gold leaf.

It is difficult to see in the photograph, but the color is a very intense vermilion.
This color can be achieved by soaking the polished copper plate in a special chemical solution and boiling it for a long period of time.
The base material reacts with the solution and gradually turns into the deep red color.
This “vermilion” compliments the light luster of the gold leaf, and depicts the beautiful landscape of autumn.
