錫製茶托 / Various kinds of pewter saucers

錫製茶托各種製作しております。茶の文化が大陸から持ち込まれた際、錫製の茶入と茶托も日本に伝えられ、その後独自の製法や形が生まれました。以来、喫茶文化に欠かせぬ道具の一つとなっています。

最も基本的なものは、磨き仕上げとなった丸い「園式（えんしき）」と呼ばれるものです。錫の柔らかい光沢に、主茶碗を引き立てるシンプルな形状が古来より茶人に愛されております。

Various kinds of pewter saucers

We make various types of saucers in pewter. When the culture of tea was brought into Japan from China, pewter tea caddies and saucers were also introduced. Since then, the saucer has become
one of the essential utensils for tea.

The most standard saucer, which is round and polished, is called Enshiki”(meaning circular form). The simple shape and soft luster of pewter compliments the main tea cup, and has been loved for a long time by those who practice tea ceremony.

無地のものが主流ですが、希に様々な文様や図案を彫り、創作することもあります。写真は、竹林の図。

A characteristic of this type is that the edge of the saucer is curved outwards.

Most saucers tend to be plain, but we occasionally create ones which have carved designs or patterns. This photograph is of a saucer which has an image of a bamboo forest. Because the carvings break through unless the metal is thick enough, we use a saucer that is specially prepared. The set of 5 are sometimes made as “Echigai”(Different pictures).

何十種類ものお皿を製作しております。その中には、茶托にも用いられる汎用性の高いデザインのものがあります。シンプルで飽きの来ない、茶碗を引き立てる文様です。

蝋を手で捻り原型を拵える、「蝋型鋳造法（ろうがたちゅうぞうほう）」で製作されています。量産は出来ませんが、淡く清潔感のある肌合いで自由な形作りが出来る特徴があります。

We make tens of kinds of saucers. Among them there are some which have designs that are commonly used for saucers. These patterns are simple and timeless, and enhance the tea bowl.

This is made by a process called “Wax form casting method,” where a wax prototype is formed by hand. Though it is not possible to mass produce this type, it has a light and elegant feel, and has the ability to be formed into any shape.
