From Tuesday 17 September until Monday 23 September 2013.
Thankfully, we finished our second Mamesara metalwork exhibition, ‘Imakara Mamesara 2013’, in great prosperity. This open call exhibition will be held by Genbei Yamanaka 7th, with the aim of sharing the world of ‘mamesara’ metalwork. All exhibitors will be judged equally, regardless of their standing. We announced this competition through the SEIKADO website, our Facebook page and through a metalwork school in Kyoto. We received over 200 artwork submissions not only from Japan but from abroad (Florence, Italy, and California, USA). We showed all the work in the Seikado Gallery using all the floorspace and made the works available to buy.
The best work which received the ‘Yamanaka Genbei Prize 2103’, was awarded to Yusuke Maruyama from Yokohama, for his work ‘Machi no Kakera’. His artwork resembles assembled pieces of a puzzle. We also awarded the ‘Life Beyond Tourism Prize’ to the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation in Florence, a sister city of Kyoto.

We held a reception party on Saturday 21st September. We had very creative and exciting exchange with people from the metalwork industry in Kyoto, as well as many artists & designers who work in creative industry. Since it was open call exhibition, we created the opportunity to connect with various people by bringing them together at the same time and for the same purpose.
